FAQ

Individual tax questions.

I'm self-employed. Do I need to pay tax during the year?

Usually yes. If you expect to owe $1,000 or more, the IRS expects quarterly estimated payments. We work out the amounts and send you reminders before each due date.

I live outside the U.S. Do I still need to file?

Yes. U.S. citizens and green card holders file every year wherever they live. Many owe little or nothing after the foreign earned income exclusion or foreign tax credits, but the return and FBAR still need to be filed.

I haven't filed for a few years. What should I do?

File as soon as possible. Penalties and interest keep growing on unpaid tax. We prepare the missing years and help you set up a payment plan with the IRS if needed.

I made a mistake on a return I already filed. Can you fix it?

Yes. We prepare an amended return (Form 1040-X) and the matching state amendment.

Do you also prepare my business return?

Yes. Many clients have us prepare both, so the K-1 from the business and the personal return match exactly.
